Artists Statement
My work represents the many accomplishments I have accumulated over the years since 2006. I realize that my works are and continue to be “firsts” for me. That is the theme, trying something for the first time without really thinking about the consequences. I do not ponder what would happen if I fail, everything is on impulse and all I know is that I have to participate despite if I have experience or not. In fact, all I see is opportunities with each project that I decide to commit myself to.
I like the challenges and I do not take the easy route. I will work at a drawing until I am satisfied with the results. Quality is the utmost importance to me and that is what I strive for with each project. Therefore, Realism and details dominates my artwork and that is what I am attracted to. These two elements give life to the drawing and skill to the artist that creates the masterpiece.
Leonardo Da Vinci is my favorite artist and Michelangelo is my favorite sculptor. I use graphite and charcoal within my artwork; I love the black and white visual because it is more dramatic and powerful. Drawing for me is like a quest, I will never know the outcome, there are always twists and turns with every step, sometimes it can be a peace of mind and other times it is frustrating and chaotic, but in the end that quest will help me grow and discover new things about myself. That is what I love about the artistic field and why I became an artist.
